Elon's even worse at social functioning than he's realized before if he thought that he was gonna be the only guy who Trump still loved the morning after.

Musk has further degraded his brand(s) by this, and I've little doubt that Trump will exploit a loophole in his agreement with Truth Social to return to Twitter soon, rewarding Musk with his presence. And with flight of many of the users (e.g. government emergency management agencies etc. who used Twitter as a bulletin board) which drew ordinary users, and made Twitter valuable to advertisers in the first place.

What is wrong with e-mail? Never been on Twitter - quit Facebook 6 years ago. Email or text message! Pick up the phone - Social media seems so impersonal.

Email and texting is so one-on-one. The great benefit of FB and Twitter is that one can reach a group of people - even restrict the conversation to a specific group, make the conversation private etc.

If you quit FB you didn't figure it out. It's very much a tool for building community, unfortunately the community can as readily be ugly as graceful, and the jerks who think ugly is the best way to live their lives seem to be greater in number than those who enjoy hanging out with their friends in loving and humorous ways.

Exactly right. Facebook is what you make of it. It doesn’t HAVE to be a bad thing, and for many it isn’t.
