I guess the remaining workforce didn’t like Elon’s ultimatum to work harder and longer. Quitting in protest.

Rumor is they are down to 238 workers now.

It's a problem that has been around for centuries - it is so difficult to find good staff, willing to work long hard hours for little pay .... What is Elon's view on immigration? It just might be a way for him to make it easier to find the people he is looking for.

He must be in favor of immigration as he’s an immigrant himself.

People are just loving dumping on him today:

Lots of reports of groups of people locked in the parking garage at Twitter or stuck in the cafeteria…

Elon just let trump** back on twitter despite his lifetime ban. Because Elon ran a twitter poll.

Any residual thoughts I had about ever getting a Tesla are gone. Someone else will build whatever EV is in my future.

I’ve requested a copy of all my data from twitter, once I have that I can delete the app.

I think I'll stay a while longer. Until the competition has determined a likely successor site with similar impact for aggregating the news feeds.

It is fascinating thinking how much additional evidence he's inevitably going to put into the public record.

Did that the day his offer was accepted. I never really used it, so it’s not a big deal for me.

There really needs to be an alternative, since everybody who was anybody jumped on Twitter as a major way to get their commentary out.

Responsible adults really should have left once Trump came there - you know - the "bad smell in the room, time to leave" reflex.

But now that Musk as opened the door for that musky smell again...

Hmm Elon turns Twitter into a terrorist support channel, I wonder are you complicit if you use it too?

The really annoying thing is that I use Twitter to keep up to speed with some pals from uni. People I've known for (gulp) forty years.

We're all leaving Twitter, but there's little consensus as to a common platform to continue our interactions.

trump** is contractually bound to post solely on Truth Social. His investors will not be happy if he jumps back onto twitter. What a slap in Elon’s face if trump** doesn’t come back!

Elon's even worse at social functioning than he's realized before if he thought that he was gonna be the only guy who Trump still loved the morning after.

Musk has further degraded his brand(s) by this, and I've little doubt that Trump will exploit a loophole in his agreement with Truth Social to return to Twitter soon, rewarding Musk with his presence. And with flight of many of the users (e.g. government emergency management agencies etc. who used Twitter as a bulletin board) which drew ordinary users, and made Twitter valuable to advertisers in the first place.

Bill Maher noted that Twitter is still operating, even with the reduced staff. The question is, how many people can keep the site up?

So... the twit probably lost about 7 million potential "clients"?

Ya gotta wonder just how many of those respondents were the bots that Musk said Twitter was swarming with...

What is wrong with e-mail? Never been on Twitter - quit Facebook 6 years ago. Email or text message! Pick up the phone - Social media seems so impersonal.

Email and texting is so one-on-one. The great benefit of FB and Twitter is that one can reach a group of people - even restrict the conversation to a specific group, make the conversation private etc.

If you quit FB you didn't figure it out. It's very much a tool for building community, unfortunately the community can as readily be ugly as graceful, and the jerks who think ugly is the best way to live their lives seem to be greater in number than those who enjoy hanging out with their friends in loving and humorous ways.

Exactly right. Facebook is what you make of it. It doesn’t HAVE to be a bad thing, and for many it isn’t.

How does Elon Musk make any money? How does he have the money to buy twitter to begin with? Never mind. Don't answer. It's really not important to me.
