Million dollar property, passable chili. Will sell chili. Won’t sell property.

At Mike’s Chili you can get a cheeseburger in a bowl completely covered in chili.

At some point the chili profits fail to cover the taxes on the million dollar property, no?

Not sure, but there might be a senior citizen tax exemption on the property. He’s owned it 50 years.

Somebody was paying attention to flood zones, load paths, and hold downs.

Then what was Hardwick's problem? Or are they just whiners.

I hate those corporate hellscapes. (As in OP). I can't believe we tolerate them, let alone prefer them.

The cheapest possible architecture used to house the most efficient methods to profit shareholders. A blight on our society. Do not patronize!

#10 surely that senior citizens' exemption cannot apply to commercial use properties!

#12... and now the rest of the neighborhood will too!

We have had a couple of them in Atlantic City too. The most famous was the one house that they built the Penthouse Casino around. The lady who owned refused to sell. This was the house she was born in and her kids were born in. To see it torn down for "progress" made her ill.. no amount of Dead Green Presidents would change her mind.

The more famous was Sabatini's Restaurant that feuded with Trump so hard even Doonesbury ran with it.
