I once had a abcessed tooth whilst by myself in my old Landy in the Kimberly in NW Australia. Had to drive over corrugated roads for 250K or so to a bush nursing hospital to have it dealt with. Smoking cigarettes all the way as the smoke in my mouth seemed to make the pain less.

My family mostly just East of LaCrosse had cash crops of tobacco. Grandpa Carl gave me my first pinch of Plow Boy at age 5, and advised to spit, don't swallow. He gave my Dad a pack of Lucky's and told him smoke, but not in the barn. #1 should have been in the Meme thread. Just saying.
