Default Quick notes about Norway while I知 still jetlagged.

No cash. Almost 14 days there and I never saw anyone use cash or coins. Cashless.
Everyone we met spoke English far better than a large percentage of yankees do.
Absolutely no, and I mean absolutely, no ostentatious displays of wealth. You might occasionally see a basic black Porsche, but no Lambos or limos.
My major “take” is that Norwegians are generally glad to be Norweigian.
We’re planning a second trip - Iceland, and then a Norway and Sweden road trip.

Why Norway leads my list of places to escape when the USA goes down the drain.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

A friend who lived in Oslo for a couple years (her husband was a sea-bottom geologist for Chevron) said that she was tired of all the food being white, especially in winter.

She also learned to loathe akavit. The sight of the label made her gag.

    Que?
    Even their cheese is brown,
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

    The food was fantastic.
The brown cheese is creamy and sweet.

With some regard to Norway, I was thinking of the impact: economics and social and political aspects of oil producing countries and how that natural resource wealth has been utilized, shared? Think Norway, Great Briton, Saudi Arabia , Venesuela, Mexico, Argentina, Brunei, Malaysia, USA. Others?

According to this, Norway has handled oil income differently from most:

There is nothing quite as permanent as a good temporary repair.
