    Default Oar Curve Question

I am currently building the Oughtred Elfyn and am currently constructing the oars out of sassafras. the plans show an inside curve to the blade of the oar. Is it easier to build this flat and then try to steam bend the curve in? or should I try to carve the curve in with a spoke shave and draw knife. Picture of the blade attached, I hope its ok to show a small part of a planPXL_20220923_185908676.jpg.

this type of oar is designed to have the curve cut into the stock.

That curve is so slight, I don't think that I would bother.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

Thanks All, that info really helps and the pictures are quite informative. The main reason I was hoping to bend the majority of the curve is because I am using 5/4 lumber. So my thought was to use a single 5/4 board as the core and the blade. then laminate 2 pieces of .375 inch on either side to get the 2inch shaft thickness.

If you desire to bend in the curve, then do it.
