I built a cabin within a half mile of that gravel quarry, to live in while we pioneered a small subdivision. Roads and building pads for the Bank manager in Weed,
1978? He never paid the final... declared bankruptcy. Ended up costing me a lot of money to pay my employees and transport a bunch of trucks and tractors back and forth.
The cabin which was "rustic" had the mountain framed in by the main window facing east. I took the whole crew up there for a little over a month. We cooked everything outside in a huge old Japanese ceramic Kamodo , unless we went into town to a great (affordable) family owned Italian restaurant. The river was close by (the quarry used it to wash the gravel, there were no rules then) and there was a good sized trout pond behind "The Cabin". We ate a lot of fish.

I have something similar which has no artistic merit whatsoever but which cheered me up.A car weighing 1800 Kg and European fuel prices being what they are.

There is one thing I miss about film cameras. People took fewer pictures. With their phones they take several photos of the same thing to see which one is the best, but keep them all. Then they had you the phone to look at photos of their vacation, and most are really nice, but often there are several photos of the same thing.

I'm sure the phones have huge memories, but eventually they will run out.

Just a humble suggestion that people keep the best photo of a particular thing or scene and delete the others. Also, if one has a few that are absolute favorites, having a print made is not a bad idea. The print tends to out last changes in technology.

    Phones are very handy.
I used my phone to get this duck to point out the full moon a while back, for example.

if i'd had a real camera, i'm sure fergus would have looked more dignified this morning while indicating the presence of geese on the pond.

It's different down here, there's 4 or 5 of those sun things for example, so goodness knows what goes on at night.

What's most amazing is that the duck took your call. I can never get through. They all think I'm a quack.

Ducks are on the webs. Not many people realize the significance of that.
