    Default Groom Service the series.

So Renee and I took our Vespa’s down to Laguna Beach yesterday. On our way down to the beach we said lets grab brunch at Kitchen in the Canyon Laguna before we hit the beach.

As we were leaving we were approached by a stunning bi-racial couple. Now I don’t know about you all but I can feel the the wealth and confidence dripping off of people. They both had it in spades. Simple clues of dress, accessories and mannerisms. A gentle acknowledgment of the finer things in life along with an ease of conversation. This of course is also Laguna Beach deep in the Orange County ecosystem.

They were asking about our Vespa’s and where we lived and what we did. We told them about naming our pair of Vespas Ketchup and Mustard, they nodded and laughed.

So they continued asking about how we ended up in SoCal.

I’m trying to figure out where this line of casual investigation is going. Then they revel their motivation - They are in the entertainment / production and Hollywood ecosystem. He has a production company and she is a casting director.

They want to make a television series about Groom Service and Renee and I in particular. I was flattered but kinda blew it off, they asked for my card which I provided and, still I blew it off and we went to the beach and enjoyed the day.

Just now I got a phone call from them they want a meeting tomorow or a conference call tonight.

    Don't.

    ...Or do.

The exposure could be useful for any business, or crippling for you. It depends how on it was handled, edited, and promoted by the production company.

Ask yourselves what they want. And, ultimately, what you want.

I was interviewed, back in 2000, for a TV show about Medieval Re-enactment: a thing that occupied just about every moment of my spare time back then. I thought long and hard about how the portrayal would reflect on me, my mates, and my interests. In a long pre-shoot telephone interview (where they were grilling me for what I knew) I realised that they were both serious and supportive.

Interesting. Not sure I'd want someone else getting to portray me the way they saw me...

Good luck if you go with it.

More in the lines of Long Island Medium. It should be said it is hard on the talent. Not many couples can stand in the wake of it.

I think Ted has a point. While I'm sure you and Renee would be entertaining you have a lot of irons in a lot of fires. In my limited contact with the entertainment world the production people generally want what they want when the want it without regard for anybody else's time. And they often seem convinced that what they are doing is the most important thing in the world. I'm sure they are not all that way, but I have found many of them quite off putting. They are also often quick to ask and slow to pay. Anyway, food for thought....

A production sort of along the lines of Pawn Stars Or American Pickers? If I were in your shoes I would listen to that type of proposal.

Oh come on. He's not trying to sell a wooden boat or boating accessories, which are most certainly not allowed. He's also not trying to drum up customers for his grooming business. He's telling his online friends about a weird thing that happened to him while out on a ride and asking them what they think about about it.

So here's the deal, I honestly thought it wasn't going to go anywhere and it was a fun story up until I got the call for a conference call with Renee later and then a possible sit down up in their offices in Hollywood. Now I will just do the same thing I always do listen to what they have to say and evaluate if it's even something we would be remotely interested in.

I have my hands full with everything I have currently so it's not like I've been writing screenplays and hawking the concept around to studio's. If it's meant to be it's meant to be. It it works then it works. Like some of you have said it's just me sharing a weird little incident nothing more.

Oh and this Vadim fellow WTF Hey but as you all know I've been in this place many, many times nothing new to look at

Some similar peeps approached me and some others at a boat show just before pandemic. They said they were looking for reality TV ideas centered on powerboats, fishing, etc.

Saltwater Underground, starring my former colleague, Nick Honachefsky, is now in Season Two on Discovery

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

First thing I’d do is find out what other shows they have made and watch some of them.

As for Scaraborcraft/Vadim isn’t it also against the rules to come back to the Forum as a sockpuppet after being given a lifetime ban? Seems he has violated this rule many times over.

    Joe.................
The thing to ask is how you and Renee think about this idea.
THEN........think about what your customer base will think about this idea.
You might find that a lot of your customers are very private people in a wealthy area of South California.
You do your business in and at their homes and they might not like having their privacy invaded by film crews etc.
Then seeing their homes and lifestyle choices being on TV for anyone to see.
I seem to remember that some of your customers lived in gated communities.
There are plenty of people, Kardasians etc, who love publicity, but that is their choice, not yours.
I once thought I was wrong, but I was wrong, I wasn't wrong.

Looks like "the Diamond Collar" series might come closest as a crib sheet for the new "Groom Service series, it even as a New Yorker as leading man:

    SERIES INFO

James Guiliani used to run with John Gotti's crew, working as a street enforcer for the mob. Now he runs with a canine crew. So how does a person go from a life of crime to a life with pooches? All it took was a life-changing encounter with a stray dog. After that moment, Guiliani found a new purpose in life: to rescue and pamper animals. So he and the love of his life, Lena, opened what has become one of Brooklyn's top dog grooming parlors. The couple also rescue abused and abandoned animals. Although it would seem like Guiliani's post-mob life is easy, that's not the case, as he and Lena deal with problems that range from simply having trouble paying the bills to more complicated issues like dealing with his former "associates." Through it all, the couple try to maintain some sort of normalcy in their lives.

We have staff that does the lions share of the company’s work. Renee only does 2 to 3 days a week and I have a booker and an admin so we wont be inconvenienced that much. Again who knows its very in the talking stage. Maybe it will be a show about nothing I’m treating it as a lark I have nothing to loose its just talking at this point, and they are nice people and easy to talk to.
