One huge housing project. No thanks.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

I got a realy bad feeling when this first surfaced. So much promised, but little explained. That MBS is tying his reputation to it does not inspire confidence.
The 'Island' communities in Dubai(?)are just luxury villas cheek by jowl with no redeeming features, this sounds like it will be similar. Yes, it is hot (too hot) so air con is essential. Everything is 'modern' (which reminds a bit of the 'garden cities' in UK. Soul-less.) Why would anybody want to live there?

Final note: On CNN, they put up the air quality maps. That area has constantly the worst in the listed places.
Oh, most people I know that have worked in the area, are only too happy when it ends and they don't have to go back. 'Cors, the money is good.

My bet is that it won't happen, certainly not as envisioned.

    As a former architecture student I think it's half-baked.

^ As someone who spent a week in KSA AT 50+C, I think the first time the power goes out it will be fully baked - if it ever gets built.
