    Default 58 in 3 days

Lost 9 lbs IN ITALY !!!!, Blood Pressure is under controle ( better living through chemistry ) We did a lot a bike riding in Italy so I’m keeping it up back home.

We met a nice “older” couple on the Chianti safari in Tuscany. When I found out they were way younger than Renee and I, I was floored. The husband looked like Rodney Dangerfield and the wife looked like Anne Meara ( Jerry Stillers wife ) Like I said they were loverly people but I thought they were a decade older than us. We don’t smoke, eat great but never fast food or processed food, no soda, or junk food, and exercise regularly. When I think that my mother died of lung cancer at 48 it blows my mind because I will have lived a decade longer than her. In that decade I met and and married my best friend and soulmate. Today is our 9th anniversary

I refuse to give up and I will rage, rage into the dying light.

Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

    I remember 58. I didn't know how good I had it!

The scary part is the older you get, the more alien you feel.

my advice to live longer: avoid all injuries!!!!
at 60 I have what I call a "two inch" zone of trouble at my right ankle from previous trauma.
it has caused so much disruption and has altered my lifestyle. yes, I still work and manage to do many things but its sooooo problematic. Im getting it reviewed in October and heading towards a joint replacement. ankle joints are still relatively new surgical territory but anything has got be better than the daily pain and flow on effects.
other than that, Im all chipper mate!!!!

bravo! to you Joe for the upcoming birthday. stay happy, healthy and motivated. smile daily!!!!

58 was 16 years ago and too many old injuries have caught me up a bit. I'm waiting for approval for my 2nd knee replacement and when that's done look forward to digging out the ol' bike again for some gentle trips Keep it up, Dude! as has been said, avoid major injuries and carry on!

what makes people old isn’t hardening of the arteries… it’s hardening of the attitudes.

Attitudinally, I’m only about 25 or so

Your athletic youth was a good thing and so was mine. At 60 I could lift and shoulder a 100# sack of corn. Not no more.

Happy birthday, Joe! I’m one year ahead of you!

My Stay-Young plan is to try and keep up with my 12 year old son, and so far it is working great.

    Let’s go surfing some time!

    Happy Birthday Joe,

If you get a chance check out Nikita Richardson's column in Wednesday's Food Section of the NYT.

Plus when you come up we will get some cannoli and raspberry rings.

You can ask Pless about them.

I've had Frank Pepe's Pie it definitely a legit top of the line pie.

Although of all the pizza we had in Italy and we had a lot, I will say the best of them tasted exactly like Pizza Mozza here in Newport Beach.

Now you should know the owner is of epic pizza lineage

    Nancy Silverton

Nancy Silverton is the co-owner of Pizzeria Mozza in Los Angeles and Newport Beach as well as Osteria Mozza, Mozza2Go and chi SPACCA in Los Angeles. Silverton also founded the world-renowned La Brea Bakery as well as Campanile Restaurant, an institution that Angelenos cherished for decades.

Oh. An aging-well post. Congratulations, very sincerely.

For me at the moment, “58-in-3-days” is approximately the number of mice I’ve killed in our buildings. (Big year for small rodents.)

I'm up to the same count as Dave, but in mosquito bites. This week. I can remember getting a hummer for my Birthday. Hope you get one Joe.
