    Default "Official" Obama Portraits

I'm underwhelmed by the "official" Obama portraits unveiled today. Several years ago did we not see a couple of portraits exhibiting much more imagination? I thought those were the "official" portraits. What's the score here?

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

The portraits you refer to are in the National Gallery in DC… Google it. Personally, I prefer the ones revealed today… but as they say (or don’t say), de gustibus non disputantum.

Obama's portrait is alright, but I wonder what the rational is for the all-white background.
    Michelle's could have been better.

How nice that they kept them. Why were they not the "official" portraits?

I did Google. They all get two, one set for the National Gallery collection, one to hang in the White House. Both "Official"
I, too, do prefer the first pair.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

I'm guessing that the two new portraits, of Michele and Barack, are by two different artists. (I just looked; they are.) I'm also guessing, but really don't like to presume to know without asking, that the artist who did Barak's, which I've read described as hyper-realistic, intended the unusual all white background as a sort of subtle, subconscious statement about him being 'glorious' for being The One who broke the race barrier for the White House. Personally, I like both the current ones better than the previous ones.

I also think it would've been just tits if the artist had had him pose in the tan suit.

I like these latest; but all are 'fine'.

trump broke protocol when he refused to install Obama's portraits. He's such a petty loser.

The question now is- will Biden do the same to trump? They really dislike each other - but the installation is supposed to transcend politics. Right.

Absolutely should've painted the tan suit.

If he gets tried for treason, he should get an all black picture.

Biden will comport himself like the adult gentleman that he is and TFG will decline to attend. If we are lucky the government will decline to release him to attend...

Either way, he will not show.
