    Sure, with a vertical scale of 400 50 does look close to 25 (est values looking at graph).

    I recall reading the cause of child mortality in the 1800 in some old book.

    The number of kids killed by falling barn doors and gates was astonishing.

    Re: seat belts. We routinely drove around with unrestrained kids in the car, knowing no better as young parents. After they learned to drive, two of our kids were in car crashes that would have killed them if they were driving the cars us parents had available in our youth. As for running around in the neighborhood--we did that routinely, since every mother in the block kept an eye on us, while there husbands were at work, earning enough to support a family.
