I heard climate change is not all bad because even though some places will have drought, other places will get more rain. That's good, right?

Re Bangladesh, much closer to sea level, and likely to be more effected by sea level rise, let alone floods.
Much of Pakistan's water damage has also come from collapsed glacier lakes.

    "
Even the most ambitious international climate targets of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees by the end of the century could lead to the melting of one third of Pakistan's glaciers, the Nepal-based scientific organisation the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development said in a 2019 study.
"In 2040 we could start facing problems of (water) scarcity that could lead to drought and desertification—and before that we may have to cope with frequent and intense riverine flooding, and of course flash floods," said Aisha Khan, head of the Mountain and Glacier Protection Organization, which researches glaciers in Pakistan."

Pakistan is one of the few countries with no earth overshoot day. They are now largely paying the price for luxuries that they didn't consume.

Bangladesh is no longer poorer than Pakistan.

Pakistan GDP per capita: US$ 1,193.63 in 2020
Bangladesh GDP per capita: US$ 1,968.79 in 2020

    World Bank figures.

But Bangladesh isn’t trying to fight India, finance the Taliban in Afghanistan, be China’s BFF and operate a nuclear deterrent.

We had 880mm in 4 days. This was on top of several months of persistent rain..it wasn't good.

This is beyond horrible. I too worry for our friend Syed, as well as all the rest of the people in the zone.

    perspective

    https://apnews.com/article/floods-pa...3b926c5cf82731

Since June, heavy rains and floods have added new burdens to cash-strapped Pakistan and highlighted the disproportionate effect of climate change on impoverished populations. Experts say Pakistan is responsible for only 0.4% of the world’s historic emissions that are blamed for climate change. The U.S. is responsible for 21.5%, China for 16.5% and the European Union for 15%.
