    Thumbs up Scot Bell

Has spent a long time working his magic at WoodenBoat. He's assisted me, and he's pretty tolerant, too.

    Congrats! Ed

    Wait...

Are you suggesting that Scot is a Real Person?

I always just assumed he was a Mythical Creature.

I've twice sat in his little nook up in the loft, he's real, a very nice guy, and does a marvellous job of managing the WoodenBoat store as well as wrangling the creatures here in the bilge.

    From me, thank you Scot.

I know he doesn’t remember, but I got to meet Scot once at WoodenBoat world headquarters. After we had left the store he chased me down in the parking lot to hand me a free copy of that month’s edition of the magazine. I thought that very kind of him.

I wish him well.I suspect that there were times when administering this place felt more like a sentence than a job,so it might feel like being paroled.Who knows,he might join in the banter now.

When someone who is really good at their job retires, I treat the news with mixed feelings. A selfish "wwell who will look after me now?", and a hope that they enjoy their retirement. Thanks Scot.

Getting banned by anyone else just won't seem the same.

Proud to say I've never been Scotted, never been to banned camp. Then again after 13 years and a little over 4500 replies and very few original posts, save for that one time you were all silly enough to name me BROTHM, there wasn't really all that much chance of it.

Enjoy Scott, whatever the next chapter holds. I'd imagine some parts of the last 36 years must have made you feel like how some prison wardens feel. The warden like the inmates is doing time as well, the warden's time however comes in 8 hour sentencing blocks Monday through Friday.

Best I ever managed was a nastygram from The Great Scot, and a loss of 30 days worth of posts, because I inadvertently included an F-bomb in a quote from Stonekettle Station.

Scot keeps us on the straight and narrow.

Yep. I received a hard smack for C&P a political cartoon from a well respected broadsheet's website that contained an F bomb.

Our hosts maintain very high standards.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

Scot banned me on accident, once. It was hilarious.

I was fortunate enough to meet him on my trip to the WBS, although we didn’t get much time to talk; dude was BUSY!

After Scot sent me a warning for being a bit too sharp with some blockhead, I tried to put him on ignore.

Didn't work. But it made me feel better.
