    Default What I saw today

    It was a full rigged ship, a frigate I believe, visiting Providence, RI. I counted 24 gun ports, I think. Does anyone know anything about this vessel?

    Was it this one? It was in Greenport, Long Island earlier in the week.

    If so, its the Kalmar Nyckel, tall ship of Delaware.

    Fellow forumite, Woxbox, is associated with her.

    I don’t think she has 24 gun ports Kevin, I can possibly make out five a side..???

    No. I dates from at least 100 years more recent. She had 12 gun ports each side, which would make her a small frigate

    We're talking about this ship at this point, the Oliver Hazard Perry. It's a steel hull tricked out to trick the eye into thinking it's some sort of historical recreation.
