    Default Glorious Storm

Just had a lovely storm roll through northern Idaho. It started with a sky full of mammatus clouds, followed by lightening, thunder, and torrential rail. The temp dropped 15 degrees F. In twenty minutes it was over and a brilliant double rainbow was all that was left. A town south of us got golf-ball hail, but none here.

In a warm Summer rain, Grandpa Carl would send me out to shower under the roof eave.
The look in his eye, told me he wanted to be there too. Bare nekid in a warm summer rain.

My mum's mother, and aunty May, living in the bush would do the same in summer storms. And without clothes. They also swum naked in the creek below the farm. Grandma, an atheist, would say "If you see anything the lord didn't give me you can shoot it". By the time I was a teenager nudity was nothing special.

An update on that storm yesterday:

Towns south of us took a severe beating. Hail in some places was over 2" in diameter. Many cars damaged, house window broken, vinyl siding and fences destroyed. I-90 closed down briefly as the storm passed.

    Nice.

We could use more of those, here.

So… this water… it simply falls from the sky?

I am intrigued by this concept.

Well, if the hills stayed green here all year, it wouldn’t be the Golden State, so there is that.

My carport roofing project got well soaked, so I need to sit idle until the underlayment dries. The forecast looks good for completing the project this week.

Could be, but the wind pattern this AM shows the storm moving north from Oregon and running into the weaker front spilling over the Cascades.

I just finished up my carport roofing project when the hail started, followed by raindrops the size of water balloons. It was all over in five minutes.

We're currently under a severe thunderstorm watch. There''s a nasty red blob on the radar heading right for us.

    The thunder has started.

If an Airstream trailer gets hit by one of those golfball hailstorms, it’s a total loss.
