Judge sent the jury away with the minor instruction of having each juror initial each page, which they hadn't. She wants to ensure that every technicality is addressed.

Should be a few minutes 'till they've returned.

There is a group of plaintiffs, each of whom were each assessed amounts both for defamation/slander damages and emotional distress damages. The amounts are calculated in specific ways, rather than the plaintiffs each being assessed an equal part of the total judgement.

It's going to be enormous. The first plaintiff alone was awarded a total of $120M.

There are a dozen families. It's totaled something over $850M.

In addition, the jury's determined that Jones should be assigned the plaintiffs' attorneys' fees and costs. With the amount to be determined at a later date by the judge.

850? My math went over $1B

My mistake. They're still reading - it's over $1B now, and they haven't got to the end.

I presume that if Jones commits suicide, his estate still pays?

Perhaps the most significant part of this, IMHO, is that none of these families need this money. The VAST majority of whatever portion of this judgement actually gets paid will be put toward gun control activism.

Jones' customers have bankrolled an opposition with (now) deeper pockets than the NRA.

I have to wonder - what's his net worth? I had read he was feverishly moving assets off-shore, this past 1+ years.

That is great news. I hope this truly crushes the financial life out of the guy.
Now the quest begins to dig that money out from all the rocks he's got it hidden under.
Obviously, this horrid little man doesn't have that much money and every dime he makes in the
future is garnished without a way for him to hide it.

Jones was broadcasting as the awards were being read. Laughing and telling his audience that people would be nuts to imagine that those families will be getting any of that money.

One hopes there are jail cells available, should that be Jones' ongoing response.

I'd be surprised if the judges in these cases hadn't foreseen such behavior and put a stop to it.

Apparently there are not caps to these sorts of awards under CT law.

Dunno, but often the judges have the ability to step in if they regard the size of the jury's awards to be egregiously overdone. The unfortunate thing is - the amount that the judge imposes instead is often just as egregious on the 'under' side. I don't think juries realize that potential.

I hope the legal system is robust enough to resist Jones' manipulations.

Just pause for a moment and consider how awful it must be, to be an Alex Jones.

Not because he just got this massive loss handed to him, but because he's Alex Jones. And not only did this bullsh#t in the first place, but is still doing it. How incomparably horrible must it be to live in that personality, in that brain.

Which is of course not any argument at all that he ought to be let off for some reason. He's earned every bit of this, and more besides. But he's not "winning," even when he "wins."

He can laugh all he wants but this verdict will haunt him for the rest of his days.
Will he be deduced to living in a rented trailer and driving a 1993 Chevy? I doubt it, but hopefully
he will be denied the lifestyle to which he is accustomed.

He'll never be able to spend it in this country.

Scumbag has put his parent company into bankruptcy, probably to avoid paying out.

How much of a deterrent will this be do y'all think? Drop in the ocean or earthquake?

I'm glad for this huge verdict. I'm also glad that it's getting publicity for Jones, who many may have never heard of.

Wonder if this will any impact on the election. Will it peel off a few right wing voters?

Will the companies that manufacture his snake oils back away from him now?
If the money behind his operation dries up, his boat will sink very quickly and he

I think it is entirely likely that Jones will be jailed on contempt charges for failing to obey court orders regarding the settlement.

I'll take you up on that.

Frankly, I think his incarceration is much more likely than him paying any portion of the settlement or aiding the court in finding those assets.
