    Default Wife passed this AM

Didn't feel like looking for the thread, so I just posted a new one

I thank you all for you wonderful support on the other thread. It was hard to watch her the last few days, even though we knew she felt no pain.

My daughter was with her and saw a dramatic change and set calls in motion, but none of us got there quite in time.

54 years and many great memories. My daughters and my grandchildren have been of great help through this, and they are handling all the arrangements.

Again, thanks for all the thoughts expressed. No easy way to do this. I'm not sure watching a loved one pass over several days, even without pain, is 'humane', but that's the system we have.

You have my heartfelt condolences John, you are a good man.

May the time between the thoughts of sadness by her passing, to the the time that brings joyful memories of your life together be a short one.

Sorry, John. I know you knew it was coming, but... 54 years. Oystagirl and I have about 20 and I'd be all at sea in your shoes (OK, that's a dumb mixed metaphor but you know what I mean!). Peace and strength and good memories to you.

What are you doing about it?

Sad news, John. I was there with each of my parents when they passed away. A hard thing but I’m glad I was here.

Very hard, John, to learn how to live alone. For me, meaning and memory both shift, mostly for the better. Not always happier, but better. I've no doubt you'll not shrink from those realities of long love.

My deep condolences to you. I can only think of the love you shared and that is now passing. You are a rich man for having a wonderful lady in your life. You will be in my thoughts and will imagine how you will reflect on all that will passed. You have been a good man and husband. take care of yourself and each other.

    Rejoice and mourn.

Rejoice that her passing was so brief, that she did not linger for many months.

Mourn the huge hole in your new life, and the loss of her companionship of so many years.

Rejoice that you are among the few who actually achieved such a wonderful connection and sustained it for so many years.

Rejoice that your children are at your side and stepping up to the tasks at hand.

Mourn the so sudden change in your life plan.

The mourning is the important part.

My deepest condolences. Knowing it is coming does not help. But, 54 years is a wonderful bunch of life together. You will be with her forever. I wish you the strength to feel the pain while looking into life.

    Thinking of you, John.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.
