    Default Update on wife:

Appears she'll not be coming home. She's getting weaker, and is still showing mental problems.

Bottom line is it appears she'll be going to hospice.

Meanwhile, by shear coincidence, granddaughter and her hubby and two youngsters will be moving soon to a place nearer his work.

I'm going to be a real empty nester, and I don't think I'll like it.

You got that right. As I tell my therapist; I look forward to nothing. A man needs something to look forward to.

I'm so sorry. Things moving way too fast.

How far away are your grandkids moving? Have you built up a good rapport with their little ones?

How far away are your children?

Sorry to hear your difficult situation. I've been through it a few times, and likely will be again. It'll get harder before it gets easier. But it will get easier. Take care of yourself.

The hospice staffs that eased our fears and our grief were very kind, understanding, and supportive. We're sorry for you, your wife, and your family.

We've been married since '68. Going to be tough without her.

John I can't imagine what your must be going through.

Go there, hold her hand, feel her presence and be present, tell her you love her every day, especially on hard days. Always hold your tongue even when she's going through a rough patch. Trust me this is the advice I was given when my mother was in hospice and it helped me cope tremendously and released me from making poor choices or regrets.

Understand John she is always with you and will always be with you and she is never gone as long as the ripples of her life still are felt in those that she touched. Keep her with you always.

FWIW you've got this place to scream and howl into the void let us shoulder that for you, we can take it. We will all always be here for you. We are listening and we feel you.

That's absolutely heartbreaking, John. I'm so sorry.

When the time came for my father-in-law, the local hospice provided in-home care with 3x/day nurse visits. Is that a possibility in your area?

It's a possibility, but I can't give her the care she needs. family agrees keeping her home is beyond our ability. I can't say I didn't see this coming, but it's still a shock.

I'll still be here. This place seems to help keep me sane, assuming, of course, I am sane.
