$320 a month for the slip is a good deal.

Is it? I’ve only ever kept a boat on a mooring. They keep raising the permit fees - it’s up to $80 a year now.

On the subject of moorings, my marina here in Vermont, on Lake Champlain, the fee is $850 for the season (May through October). The charge includes use of the marina, parking, dinghy dock, etc. Problem is that I just got a letter saying next summer would be the last time they would offer moorings, but that they would find me a place at the dock. Heartbreaking because we enjoyed the mooring almost sa if it were a summer camp with no lawn to mow. Spend the night, swim fish, just hang out for the evening. It was a destination and FESTIVUS loved it there. Would not be the same at the dock.

Could you just anchor out where the mooring is? And just pretend you are on a mooring.

Well, yes but the amount of scope (?) needed would put me on the rocks when the wind is wrong. The mooring is in a narrow bay and shared with a boat launch and another marina and several summer camps. The mooring works because it only allows the several boats that use it to swing in a pretty small area. I have used it for 25 years and have got used to it. Oh well... I doubt they will move the concrete block. Maybe I can rig something up?
