Bezos can’t get his super boat down the river. Oops.
Good for Rotterdam. I hope they make it hurt.

I suspect it'll hurt the builder far more than it hurts Bezos.
I suspect the builder didn't think it all the way through and hurt themselves. It is easy to take a bid but completing it to deliver is a next level stuff. Having a high profile client intending to take down small retail and main street shops didn't help in a place that cherishes their tight knit community and tradition of local merchants.

Without friends none of this is possible.
Yup, assumption is the mother of all **** ups
They should have perhaps thought it through a little better.
Imagine the (insert philanthropic project) that could have been funded for $500 million.

I bet there is a number that gets that bridge lovingly and carefully dismantled/restored/reassembled, builds a few schools, and puts money in everyone’s pocket.

Fred Z gets to the kernel of the matter.Just put the masts on a barge and crane them in once the boat is past the bridge.
Sikorsky helicopters, or a few blimps ought to do it

At our marina we had to raise a mast on a 25' boat in the dock. We tied ropes to masts of boats in adjacent slips. About 10 of us worked to hoist the mast and step it in place.
Mr. Bezos can get his buddies who sail Sailing Yacht "A" and the Maltese Falcon on either side of his yacht and do something similar. It should be easy, just scale up by a factor of 20 or 30.![]()

I feel very sorry for him. That's the only reason I don't have my own super yacht now, so many troubles with the marinas...
I really hope my business will do better this year and I will be able to afford one of those beauties very soon.

So apparently there was a plan B it seemed to work out just fine. (FredZ called it)

Launching without the masts stepped, and then moving the hull to where it needs to be for final fitting out is a pretty normal thing. Has been for centuries.

I’d rather have a modest fleet of sea planes
The idiots who wrote the linked article stated that at 417', the yacht would now be the largest sailing vessel in the world. Sailing yacht, perhaps, but not sailing vessel. Morons. They were also talking about "the mast", not bothering to find out it has three masts. Morons.
I do so loath sloppy reporting.
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

^We're going to Split in November. Maybe I can find her?
Here she is. Sails as GOLDEN HORIZON.

Looks like all sailings are cancelled through October due to the war in Ukraine — seems their line of credit is [was] through a Russian bank, VTB Germany.
