Nice! Open transom on that wherry, or was there plexi or something in there?

The wherry with the clear transom is interesting. Looks to be SOF. The gunnels look substantial with kevlar cord. Curious how they're constructed. Can't see too much detail in the photo.

That little SOF boat was interesting. We talked to the guy for a while. He bought the boat, and added the inner wales and lashings to strengthen the hull. The entire boat was full of sweet little intricacies he built in to it.

I wish I could remember even half of what we talked about. It is a neat little thing.

Can anyone provide more information on Merlin? She looks like an adaptation of a Chesapeake buy boat. I'm just beginning the build of a 36' version of something very similar.

    Thanks

I spoke briefly to the owners daughter. The hull was built by an old timer in VA. who passed away before getting to the deck. It was in a barn for years before the present owner bought it. They have oyster boats and built MERLIN as a small oyster dredge. They scaled everything very well. I think they got the proportions just right. That' s about all I heard. Definitely MERLIN was my show favorite. I didn't get the dimensions other than she's about 30' LOA and draws about 4' which is mostly skeg/deadwood to help with pulling dredges.

Thank you, holzbt. Merlin looked too much like a buy boat not to have come from the Chesapeake.
