The river is very shallow up river from town. Rock ledges crisscross the river bottom in this area.

This afternoon, my buddy Lonnie and I put in the river just below downtown where the river is still tidal. We were catfishing but not with much luck. 3 small 1.5-2lbs. between us.
It was warm today about 92F. but there was a pretty good breeze blowing, so not to bad for a summer day in the south.

Great photos Skip.
Looks much like The Black River here in Lorain.
Keep calm, persistence beats resistance.
sweet. good to get out.
from the looks of that stick, you were ready for full sized catfush.
i have a couple rods like that, i use them for crowbars these days...he says, wistfully...
Lee,
There are some biggin's in the river, they just weren't ours for the taking today. There was a big catfish tournament last weekend, they donated the catch to the local food bank.

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.
There's a certain spirit to it.
I'm not leaving.

Great bilge sweetener Skip! Seine some 3" gills. Stomped and hooked behind the gills works for me.
The stomping is the thing. Massive scent in the stream/river.

I've never seen that kind of swing-back seat used as anything but second-row in a center console boat, but man that setup makes all the sense in the world!
What color are their hands now?
Lucky dog! Looks like a fun trip.
That is a really well set up boat.![]()

I once thought I was wrong, but I was wrong, I wasn't wrong.

Thank you Sir.
I am nursing a couple injuries and your pics get me closer to the river than I am allowed to get.
