50 separate nations on one continent.
Even Europe knows better than to do that again.
A society predicated on the assumption that everyone in it should want to get rich is not well situated to become either ethical or imaginative.

Dang. I thought we had a giant asteroid on the way.
Because Congress is better at non-partisan scientific analysis than the specific agencies created to date? Kavanaugh is such a putz.
Congress is the pack of idiots who asked the CIA to whip up a NIE determining Iraq’s “WMD” threat for a war that was already in motion then spent 72 hrs reading it before the vote. My God will Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz determine the basis for methane emission regulations? Ahh eff it. It’s not like homo saps will change stripes and sacrifice immediate reward for some universal good.

I suggest the term "United States" is fast becoming redundant.
My take is that the fall of Roe could well trigger a legal cascade that ultimately will lead to the dissolution of the U.S., Likely leading to 3 nations where there was once one.
He was one of the most supremely stupid men I have ever met. He taught me a great deal.
And then the killings would commence…… I cannot imagine that existing state borders would be acceptable. and looking at the mud map in#3, workable. Can you imagine the mess over water just for a start.

This SC is going to kill a lot of people, with no personal consequence, except maybe to their children and grand children.
A very conservative christian I once knew said while they didn't want to die (because they wanted to see their kids grow up) but if it happened, well that would be ok because they would get to see Jesus that much sooner...

Good article. But several misconceptions are prevalent. From the WaPo:
No, they didn't. They ruled that Congress had not given the EPA the authority. They did not rule that Congress could not do so.The Supreme Court on Thursday sharply cut back the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to reduce the carbon output of existing power plants, a blow to the Biden administration’s plans for combating climate change.
Congress tells the EPA to clean up the air. The EPA decides, in order to do that, we'll need to nationalize the entire power grid and all power plants. The first question is, did Congress give the EPA that authority? If not, game over. Rule of law, not men.“Capping carbon dioxide emissions at a level that will force a nationwide transition away from the use of coal to generate electricity may be a sensible ‘solution to the crisis of the day,’ ” Roberts wrote, referring to a court precedent. “But it is not plausible that Congress gave EPA the authority to adopt on its own such a regulatory scheme.”

Congress created the EPA so your (& the court's) nitpicking is simply wrong. This could have fallout that goes way beyond the EPA & you try to minimize it. Sheesh.
This decision is a wet dream for Republicans because they can simply ignore EPA regs & get on with destroying the planet.
We get to go back to the 70's where acid rain made northern NY lakes sterile & acid fog killed millions of trees in the northeast - including Canada - who I hope will sue the pants off any polluters.
Then, we can remove OSHA, get back to a 60 hour work week and remove all bank regs. Just what the Rep. crooks want.

I don't follow. Congress created the EPA, and delegated various powers to it. Congress did not delegate this power, therefore, it doesn't have this power. That isn't nitpicking, that's the ball game.
Congress did not give the Post Office the authority build satellites. They could . . . but they didn't.
