Default Texas Republicans go completely off the reservation

Yesterday's letter from Prof. Richardson contains this paragraph:

And, as if in confirmation, delegates to a convention of the Texas Republican Party today approved platform planks rejecting “the certified results of the 2020 Presidential election, and [holding] that acting President Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was not legitimately elected by the people of the United States”; requiring students “to learn about the dignity of the preborn human,” including that life begins at fertilization; treating homosexuality as “an abnormal lifestyle choice”; locking the number of Supreme Court justices at 9; getting rid of the constitutional power to levy income taxes; abolishing the Federal Reserve; rejecting the Equal Rights Amendment; returning Christianity to schools and government; ending all gun safety measures; abolishing the Department of Education; arming teachers; requiring colleges to teach “free-market liberty principles”; defending capital punishment; dictating the ways in which the events at the Alamo are remembered; protecting Confederate monuments; ending gay marriage; withdrawing from the United Nations and the World Health Organization; and calling for a vote “for the people of Texas to determine whether or not the State of Texas should reassert its status as an independent nation.”

Fundamentalism. When things go too fast go backwards, way back to that safe place in your mind.

It's a great idea to make it an independent state and go back to the 50's, maybe they should have a chat with our British friends to list all those positives Brexit has brought to them..

Let them go. Let them become their own independent country. No more federal support of any kind.
    See how they like that.

Given some of their recent problems with electricity and other underfunded services, if they do go off in a huff, I imagine there will be plenty of people emigrating to the US, leaving a low IQ pool to fester.

Not like that, I wouldn’t say - an in-human tendency in the case being examined here.

Y'know, this really sounds like a declaration of intention to secede. Does it sound like that to you?

He may forgive the Texas Republican Party's omission to state that Ukraine has never not been Russian, and require that it be taught in schools.

From reality, analogous to how Trump was described by his Attorney General.

Seriously, if that is their intent, they better keep mum. Secession is illegal.

Looks like Texas get back $1.20 for every dollar they pay in Federal taxes. So it’d be a big savings to cut them loose.

The phrase “ off the reservation “ is considered offensive to First Nations people, you might want to reconsider your word choice. How about “ off script “ or “ colouring outside the lines” or “ like an 18 year old Texan with a AR at an elementary school “ you know something crazy white people do.

This reminds me of a joke:

A Texan and a New Yorker are stuck on a desert island when they come across a magic lantern. They frantically rub the lantern and a Genie emerges.

The Genie says thank you for releasing me you can each have ONE wish. The Texan being a Texan blurts out I go first.

Texan - “I want a 60 ft high concrete wall around Texas to keep Texas for Texans and keep all the illegals and Yankees out.
Genie - “ As you wish - boom - it is done Texas now has a 60 ft high wall completely around the state.

The Genie, then asks the New Yorker what is your one wish ?

New Yorker - “Fill Texas with water “

I have no doubt about the balance of cashflow between Texas and the federal government. What I'm wondering about is the Texas Republican Party's platform. Are they really adopting that list of crazy ideas?

edited to add: elf, the link didn't work for me and I didn't feel like signing in on the Texas Republicans' website.
