    Default Rittenhouse

There is a paragraph in the article below that stopped me in my tracks. See what you think. The bold font half way through is my own.

    Originally from NBC News:

Kyle Rittenhouse claims he's going to Texas A&M. The university begs to differ.

Kyle Rittenhouse claimed he'll attend Texas A&M University on a podcast, but university officials tell a different story, saying he has not been admitted as a student.

During an appearance on “The Charlie Kirk Show,” a conservative podcast, Rittenhouse proudly put on a Texas A&M cap and said he’d be attending the university.

“I’m going to be going there. It’s going to be awesome,” the 19-year-old said during the episode, which aired Friday on YouTube. “Beautiful campus, amazing people, amazing food.”

However, a university official said he will not be attending the school.

“He has not been admitted as a student this summer or fall,” university spokesperson Kelly Brown told NBC News Monday afternoon.

Rittenhouse later on Monday tweeted that he's set to enroll in the Blinn College District, which he equated with attendance at A&M.

"Unfortunately, the end of my high school career was robbed from me. I didn’t have the time other students get to properly prepare for the future," he wrote. "I look forward to attending Blinn College District this year, a feeder school for Texas A&M. I’m excited to join Texas A&M in 2023!"

A Blinn College rep confirmed that Rittenhouse has applied to attend the open-enrollment system, which regularly sends students to A&M.

Rittenhouse hasn't elected on a major yet, but his spokesman said the Antioch, Illinois, native is leaning toward studying aviation after his year in the Blinn system.

"That's a done deal, he's already signed a lease for his housing and he's excited to attend the main campus of A&M in (fall) 2023," said his rep David Hancock. "He's in the process of completing his private pilot's license right now. So he's not quite sure what he's going major in, but he's looking toward the field of aviation."

On the podcast, Rittenhouse detailed how excited he was to attend college with hopes to become a pilot.

"It’s going to be an amazing experience where I can go and finally get an education,” he said. “Over the past six months, I’ve been out having fun, living my life being a free man. Now it's time to go and get an education, get good grades, and be successful in life."Rittenhouse made national headlines for his actions in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Aug. 25, 2020, during protests decrying the shooting of a Black man, Jacob Blake, by a white Kenosha police officer.

Rittenhouse had traveled from his home to Kenosha, about 20 miles away, armed with a rifle, claiming he sought to protect property during the unrest.

He fatally shot Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26. Gaige Grosskreutz, 27, was injured.

During his high-profile trial, Rittenhouse argued he opened fire in self-defense. He was acquitted Nov. 19 of five felony charges, including reckless homicide and intentional homicide in Rosenbaum's and Huber's deaths.

Texas A&M isn't the first school to deny claims by Rittenhouse. After he testified that he was studying nursing at Arizona State University, a spokesperson said that Rittenhouse “has not gone through the admissions process” and is not enrolled in its Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation.

He was, however, in ASU’s online program, where prospective students often take general education classes to prep for applying to the university, the spokesperson said.

Rittenhouse has spoken out several times on conservative programs since his acquittal.

He said in an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson that he supports the Black Lives Matter movement, adding, “I’m not a racist person.” He also previously said it was “probably not the best idea” to have traveled to Kenosha the night of the protest.

So he's going to attend a community college in Bryan/College Station in the hope that he gets into A+M?

Fair bet A+M's admissions office might not want a killer on campus.

Blinn is one of those football funnels. Lots of jocks attend to get an academic record that will pass NCAA major college scrutiny. Cam Newton for example. Lots of large men of the Black Lives Matter persuasion.

It's America. He shot someone. Give him a career in politics and pay him compensation for the stress of being arrested and having his good name tarnished. He was interviewed by tucker carlson. That is something I hope I never have to watch. JayInOz

If he does get himself sorted out, and I suspect he has too many voices reinforcing his current view, he's going to come face-to-face with a very ugly truth. I'm not sure I could face something like that knowing that I had done it.

He had / has a $2 million (?) ' legal defense fund' which paid for practice trials, and possibly aided in his acquittal . Does anyone ( even Tucker) think he sees the real world with any kind of clarity ?

Pretty sure he has a full time security detail because of all the hate messages and death threats.

I believe his mother is included in that security detail for the same reason.

C.W. Smith, aren't you the one that said a few weeks ago that these murderers should be shunned? If anyone deserves to be ignored, it is Rittenhouse. I seriously doubt that he has either the intellectual firepower or the discipline to complete a 4 year degree or obtain a pilot license. If he does, more power to him, maybe some good will come of it, but right now, he is just another right wing wingnut cause celebre. Ignore him like the scum that he is.

So some significant difficulties as a youth. I can relate. And yes, these problems can dog you all your life.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

He fatally shot Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26.

This was the bit that stood out for me. Whether he was acquitted or not is irrelevant. Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber are not out having fun, living life and being successful because Rittenhouse killed them.

Yes, but being aware that others are reacting to him is not the same as building his celebrity status.

Do you see Biden doing that with a group of Proud Boys all doing the exact same sign ?

Sometimes when alone it can be simply an OK symbol, especially when the W part of WP looks like you're counting or making a point.

Ahhh but if you REALLY extend it and make that W & P proud especially in a group setting then you have the perfect little White Power Symbol.

Lets see if you can tells the difference - I can

Rittenhouse, who is 18-years-old, drank three beers during his time at the bar. Though the legal drinking age is 21, in Wisconsin anyone underage can drink alcohol if they're with a parent. Rittenhouse's mother was also in the Pudgy's Pub at the time.
