Default The less known youtube channels worth recommending

Many of us do follow a couple of channels that are well worth the time (or: our time), but somehow haven't reached broad audience - be it for being too niche, too new or just too unlucky.

I'll happily share my recommendations with you, and see what you recommend

Basic rules (more like guidelines really)

    - no more than a million subscribers
    - bonus points for less than 100k subscribers
    - bonus points for DIY/creator content
    - double bonus points for being boat / wood related

I'll start with wood...wind, DIY multi instrumentalist musician Nicolas Bras (90k subs):

Says 6.06K subscribers, not sure I’m reading that right. But I like his very clean playing and I’m becoming a big fan of ER (extended range) guitars. (Some of his lighting leaves a bit to be desired.)

Not sure these fit the rules, but there are several very good international food and culture shows on YouTube . .

including NHK Japan, and Wocomo Cook from Germany . .

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUIp1mAv0m0 This has 11 K views - it merits more.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMdo...4okiKr&index=4

Lots of views for this one, but many are likely from Japan

This might sound stupid, but how do you tell how many subscribers a channel has?

What are you doing about it?

Hmmm. This guy's channel doesn't have that, but he's immensely entertaining and a font of (occasionally profane) knowledge of just about everything mechanical or electrical/electronic.

The BOLTR videos are always fun.

Uri Tuchmann - makes stuff. Often odd stuff, often small tools, sometimes things get just weird.
All stuff he makes is very pleasing, aesthetically.

He captures it pretty well. Sleeping next to the road is rarely restful.

    I subscribe to that.

Most of the channels I watch meet the criteria for "less known". A significant number have less than 100K subscribers.

I keep dipping into maxfliart's channel, and realising I am not in his league.
He builds some exquisite small rubber powered scale model planes, including at least two twin-engined ones. The neatest builds I have seen, and they fly like a dream. Free flight of course.
