    Pulse jets. I helped install two larger ones on a client's boat. Lousy as boat propulsion, but way cool noise and flames. The vids don't come close to showing the level out noise. I wore hearing protection any time they were fired up.

    The fellow who built the two I was part of built them in a range of sizes. Somewhere out there is a skateboard, slightly longer than a normal 'longboard', with a tiny pulsejet mounted. And it still scoots.

    The reason the English nicknamed the V1 the "buzz bomb". It used Pulse Jets for propulsion.

    I remember ads in hobby magazines showing a small pulse jet. The sound would have to appeal to the person.
    One time I was kayaking in the SF Bay near Angel Island and Tiburon and I could hear turbine sounds building on the water and it was a ocean racer about 1/2 mile away. Then it roared shooting out huge flames and was ahooting towards Alcatraz. Crazy sound reflecting off the ridge above Sausalito.
