I have several wide planks about 4 ft. long of this stuff. Moderately heavy, was used as shelving, needs a little cleanup. Any idea what wood it is? (the dark spot is just a shadow.)

Long distance wood ID is a crapshoot.
If forced, I'd say some subspecies of Shorea.

My first guess was Philippine mahogany, so your assessment matches my confirmation bias. Anyhow, it gave me something to google.
