Perhaps we'll get some close racing the next couple of races. That would be fun.

October here. Maybe they will be finished with the roadwork. They are putting in a ton of infrastructure Hwy 71 to fix the clusterfart 4 hour traffic jams from last time. Will eliminate a stop light or two between austin and houston. And knock 5 minutes from my commute.

What are the changes in the rules for the new cars? There is an article in the German news where one of the Mercedes team states they will put in an effort to understand the car better and to find more power / performance. For a statement like that, there must have been some major rule changes ...

The F1 site gives some information Henning; https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/a...xxw6r5yDS.html

And the text of the technical rules, just 150+ pages ; https://www.fia.com/sites/default/fi...2021-02-19.pdf

Put simply, they have switched from 13 inch wheels to 18 inch, removed a lot of aerodynamic clutter from the front of the sidepods and reverted to ground effect underbodies. While having to operate under a cost capped budget. It also looks like the Ferrari engine is no longer at a disadvantage to the others.

This race was a good example of close racing, it seems that every track could get a different winner which makes every race exiting and fun to watch.

how much of ferrari's success thus far in 2022 might we attribute to them being out of it last year and thus they concentrated on development of the f1-75 chassis and power unit?

while mercedes and redbull being in the thick of it had to concentrate on their 2021 cars and season. . .

    Good point!
And for now things are looking very bleak for Red Bull with their gasoline problem.
How maddening is that, you build a multimillion dollar car, and it can't get gasoline to the engine

    The cars are funny looking.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

Wet races are always interesting, Leclerc spilled some points when flying over the kerbs.

Ja, Mercedes needs to get their act together, a competition between the 3 main teams would be nice.
For the time being Russel seems to outperform Hamilton

It may be for quite some time, given the gap today.About time the Aston Martins scored a point but what a gulf between the McLaren duo. Each time there is a major technical change it seems to bring about a type of car that suits some drivers more than others.I might hazard a guess about which drivers won't have team managers asking about how long they have left on their contract and how about meeting one evening for a chat..... but then some in that category contribute financially and are tolerated for that alone.

One of the main Dutch F1 TV programs stated that the peculiar radio communication between Toto Wolf and Lewis Hamilton after the race was the first step to get Lewis leaving the Mercedes team.

OK. i'll bite, both Verstappen and Leclerc had their bit of luck and bad luck in the last couple of races, Mercedes seems to catch up a now. From now on it's time for some serious racing between the 3 main racing teams. Next week Monaco which is always fun. After the Monaco race we European race lovers have dinner and switch to the USA for Indianapolis.
