    Default Atkins Ingrid for sale

I have no association with this boat, other than seeing it for sale occasionally over the years. This is a screaming deal on a beautiful boat. I've got far too much going on to even consider this project, but maybe one of you has more time than money and loves a double ender...

Have any of you seen Pelin in person?

I already own my cruising ketch.
My friend sails Nada, which is a glass version. Good boats.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

Head is gone, galley is disassembled, engine is iffy and the framing and planking "Appear" to be sound. Live on board while you piss your money away trying to float the old girl. Come on, really?

There are so many of these project dream boats....

"And there are some really cool antique gimbaled kerosene house and navigation lanterns."

I think that was offered 'tongue-in-cheek'. The rest of the ad seems to indicate an owner who knows his boat, and where he was headed with her. The pictures indicate some problems and we all here know there will be more. ..........But, there is also a lot of value shown in the pics. A cedar planked hull on oak ribs can serve well on this coast, so if the hull and framing were sound this boat might well be a good deal for the right person.

I'd start here .... "Recent (2021) and older (2105) surveys available." / Jim

It was the new in box Hasse main sail and the relatively new parceled and served dynema done by Brion Toss that got my attention. Not that far off of Jmadison's Julia in that regard.

If they're struggling to sell in Pt. Townsend, there's maybe more to the story. But it seems like a perfect candidate for a restoration thread on here. (for one of you, obviously).

    Gimbaled oil lamps and all...

    $4000, seems reasonable.

I notice a conspicuous absence of any mention about how she is fastened and I see a cast iron ballast. I would say there's a good chance she is iron fastened with iron floors. Restoring her traditionally would probably mean a full rebuild.

If building an Ingrid was always your dream this is a good head start, you get the ballast, rig, some interior, a female form for your frames, a lot of full size patterns and probably even some reusable pieces of framing and planking. Plus of course all the "cool" stuff on board wich includes the antique scottish engine with almost impossible to find spares.

52 years old....the blue tape may have been pulled off ten minutes before the photo,20 minutes before rust started again.
The scaffolding is in the pic.
Not a single photo of under the sole.
I had the offer of a free Bluewater Ingrid (fiberglass) a decade ago...without a place to put her.....she is a liability .
A full rebuild can be twice the work of a full build.

Hopefully she found a good home and will sail again.
