I can't drive a luge with my Thermax gloves?
Who needs Luge gloves when brass knuckles will do?

Really? I thought you can order absolutely everything there.
And if not there is amazon phone number available online so you can ask them about particular thing and they will be able to get it for you.
I honestly don't remember searching something on Amazon and didn't find.

the warm fuzzy feeling of supporting local business.
While true, sometimes... I needed fasteners for my deck. Checked locally & $850 for a bucket full - $490 on Amazon. Local store said "That's less than what we pay for 'em". I must admit, I bought from Amazon - which is what the local store guy said he'd do.
Next one: needed a cabin air filter for the car. $14.99 on Amazon. Checked with what used to be my local foreign car parts store. My friend Gary said "Since the buyout [by another local auto parts outfit] they're $25.00 - used to be 8.00 - buy it @ Amazon or Rock Auto".
A friend runs a garage that works mostly of foreign cars. He can no longer get anything but the most common stuff locally because the local stores no longer have deep stock. He used to spend ~$8K a month locally - now it's ~$2K & the rest from online.
Local stores have to stock stuff to be useful.

^ understood.. I did once buy a thermopile from ebay after the local guy wanted some outrageously astronomical figure for a part made 40 years ago.. and I had even gone looking for a local source after finding the ebay offering.
and now with the continuing shutting down of long stand family business where I live, ebay is getting more of my business. but there's no warm fuzzy, only sadness.
It’s a warm fuzzy sadness.
I agree with the sadness. Case in point is the auto parts store I referred to. Started in the 70's, I was the outfit's first road salesman, building sales for my customers from 125K to 850K in 4 years. After I left, it grew far more & became the goto foreign car parts place in northern New England. The owner retired, his son took over, ran it for 2 years & got offered a ton of cash by chain of 15 stores in VT & he took it. The new owners packed up every single item in the 3 warehouses (Bosch, KYB, Mann Filter, etc. distributor + 100s of thousands of other parts) & sent them to VA & replaced the stuff with their own. 1/10 the depth, twice the price. Business has dropped over 70% in 18 months. Just stupid.

Go to local store. Get told “we can order it for you, it’ll take a week or 2. Pick up my phone or iPad. Have it day after tomorrow.
That’s all the warm and fuzzy feeling I need.

I have never bought anything from Amazon. Does that make me a freak?
Might have a back door.

I hate that I love Amazon.
Go to the local Ace to get two pieces of 3 inch stovepipe and a couple elbows… they have one banged up piece.
The freakin store is full of baubles, stupid gifts crap, cases of “old fashion pop”,flaketex paint and kitchen gadgets.

You cannot get a US made carburetor kit for my Briggs & Stratton mower motor at Amazon. The dealer has a kit for $90.00, Amazon has a Chinese one for $8.00.
One detail the dealer left out in his spiel - the factory carb is made in China...
Guess which one I bought?

Thanks for the kind words.
