Mine walks four miles every other day and is recognized by lots of people around town as The Walker. They sometimes stop her in stores, etc., call her by name and say how they saw her in such and such a place on such and such a day. She rarely has any clue who they are... but pretends to. Neighbors are nice here.
"So we beat on, paddleboats against the wake of a neighbor’s jet ski, born back ceaselessly into the past." The Great Lakes Gatsby
Claudia used to walk 5 miles 2-3 times a week. Now that we are in higher elevation ABQ, she will have to ease back into it once we have the house settled in.

Gerard, be sure to allow yourself, and your lady, some time to acclimate to the higher elevation - even if it isn't exactly Mt Everest. . . .![]()

I do the same most days. And I’m 72. And it’s 12 degrees out. Fahrenheit.
My wife loves to walk.
She took me with her yesterday.
2 degrees Fahrenheit.
-15F last night.

I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.
Skiing is the next best thing to having wings.
Joe, liking ABQ very much so far. The drama of the light and clouds rippling over Sandia Peak looming over our backyard is very entertaining, one could simply sip a drink and watch, mesmerized. Services are convenient - no more ferry hassle! People are convivial and welcoming.
Altitude adjustment is good so far, but we have to remind ourselves to hydrate more. Attitude adjustment is trending in the right direction too. :-)
We are buried in boxes unpacking etc. It'll take a while. And then I need to build a small, attached woodshop to the back of the garage, say 16' x 16'.

I love to walk, and even more to hike, even in winter.
My left leg was paralyzed last summer when cancer surgery required removal of nerves and stressed others. With lots of work I’m walking again without the crutches, canes, or leg braces I’ve worked through. I still can’t feel much of anything below my hip, but my goal is to be able to do at least moderately difficult hikes by summer. And I’m still cancer-free!
