Very true JB but for me it is more a case of getting rather than gone.
The ranch has a 3 bay Totalspan barn thingy which considering we came North from a postage stamp in Poncenby this is heaven on earth for me.
I had a small workshop down the side of the house but converted it into a apartment to get the incorrigible social son out of the whare.
I had mentally already brought the property as soon as I spied the barn as I drove down the drive, house what house?

However it certainly was not cheap that's for sure and supply/shipping was an issue so reached for buying Dyco/Masport machines and the 12" Superfine was on the the list.
I could have gone to Jacks and fitted the shop out with blingy new stuff but hey I'd be short of a story or two...

Jack's is where we bought our machinery in 1990. Casedei was the table saw brand, it was very accurate and trouble free for nearly 30 years.

Theres a standoff with the local council over the derelict jetty. Locals want it fixed. Council want to reclaim a football field sized area from before the jetty to past the dried out patch for trailer boat parking. They'll get 19 parks out of a 6500 sq m reclamation, lose between 3 and 5 off the roadside for access reasons ,so the net result is environmental vandalism in a sanctuary area for a net gain of 15 or 17 parks for several millions of dollars, much of which is hemorraging into consultants pockets ,as usual.
Such are the machiavellian machinations of local body politics.

It takes a keen eye to spot a pasture chicken.

Pasture chickens are easy. Find the Great Horned Owl in the ash tree in my pasture.

Bonus photo, two Mississippi Kites along with what is one of their main foods. Top of same ash tree as above.

LW, my lady used to keep miniature horses, we once went to a breeder's ranch to purchase a couple - the pasture looked similar to that, until he whistled and 50 miniature horses galloped up to him (followed by a huge dust cloud)

chickens are like miniature horses that lay eggs. you can only ride them if you are very small.

Low tide (more or less) on Amrum. At spring low, you would not see any water at all in the picture any more, just mud.

That’s an average of about 3,800 miles a year over 13 years. Or, more accurately, one idiot light for every 50k miles.

I once knew a young woman with a 1975 Nova. She took a photo of the dash when it turned over to 75,000 miles while going 75 MPH on Interstate 75.

I was driving across Manhattan yesterday, listening to Jimi Hendrix, Crosstown Traffic.

Then, my coworker, Jim Hendricks called.

Sigh...twenty years ago I'd have bought it from you. 'Course, twenty years ago you wouldn't have sold it

We've been feeding an old, feral cat. Not a lot...just enough to keep him coming back for a free meal. As a result my mole population has decreased dramatically!

Originally a summer hotel, now a nursing home, in the village where I live. If you look closely there's a streak of red in the sky. I have not figured out what made it.

I took my youngest son on a wee road trip today ... driving 145 miles around the Trossachs. He, sadly, lives in Edinburgh, doesn't drive, and therefore doesn't really know what Scotland is like.

Here's an odd one. I went in to the workshop this morning and grabbed a scythe off the wall- left the door open as I do every morning. Cut some long tussock grass beside the road and uncovered the bearded dragon. One swipe with a razor sharp blade about half an inch above him! Sat him on a fence post while I kept cutting. It's winter- the ground is freezing cold and saturated- the lizard should be under a pile of timber hibernating somewhere. He was too cold to move. Finished cutting, fed out the grass to the critters then went back to the workshop to touch up the scythe and hang it up again. The young goshawk was on the windowsill knocking tools on the floor. I opened the door as wide as I could then stepped back but the hawk flew the length of the shop and hit the window. I lifted him up- at one stage he was sat on the back of my hand but made no attempt to nail me. Anyhoo, the bearded dragon is now under a pile of hardwood fence posts and the goshawk is in a white cedar tree in the back yard. JayInOz

We had a pod of pacific white sided dolphins frolicking in our anchorage last week. Shannon actually got to swim with them for almost an hour. A once in a lifetime experience for her, I got some great video on the phone. This screenshot is from one of them.

My sister recently sent me a post from Facebook from someone that thought this silo might have been built by German WWII POWs from the local prison camp. Don't know if that is true. That post also had a photo from inside, the tree is growing from ground level.
