I must go back there soon, the place really got under my skin.
It's OK John W. We all screw up now and then. It's just that I only say something nice once in a blue moon and you go and give the credit to some nuther fellaJayInOz

This drunk bird , a wood pigeon the size of a small chicken, buzzed me yesterday, I ducked. You hear em coming through the wing noise.
Here he is at the pub at lunchtime yesterday.

I once thought I was wrong, but I was wrong, I wasn't wrong.
These ones, I mean ours, only get a bit tipsy .Enough to go, 'watch this' and fly past human head to say hello. One juvenile did exactly that and crashed through a pear tree , damaged his wing a couple of years ago. I had to track him through the bush, grab him and get him to a bird rehab, I think he may be one of the locals still..
Those and our Heron are the most curious birds. I had a heron land in the tree beside me while working on gutters yesterday.
This guy sits in the top of this dead wattle 35 meters from our deck and goes dawn to dusk.. song thrush with bonus heron and two blackbirds.

I thought it was nice when a few English Blackbirds turned up here- but after several years with them getting every strawberry, raspberry and mulberry, I've changed my mind.

The thing is that Mum had 2 cats and the neighbours a couple each as well.
Those cats would see the pigeons on the ground unable to fly and would
actively stalk them. They would kill them if they could, but never actually eat them.
Mum was saving those Pigeons from certain death.

A quick wood working project for my son. I used left over pieces of Ash and fitted to a small corner in his bathroom.
This may not be the most incredible photo but it broke my heart and had such an emotional impact on me.
Renee & I took our vespas up to Silverado Cafe on Father’s Day. We sat that the counter as we always do. Renee went to the bathroom and past a family with a newborn. Renee told the father happy fathers day what a beautiful baby. She expressed how she felt “less than” because she never gave birth.
As he and his wife were leaving he handed Renee the baby and said “Here enjoy”
Renee embraced the small baby and held it close and started to cry, then I started to cry seeing how that little baby effected my sweet wife.

Needed ice so had to leave this spot today after four nights on the hook, where there was no internet. Hit Squirrel Cove store and in the anchorage tonight. Busier here, we might have to move on.
Summer is finally here, I think. / Jim

Nice. They're cards of things ,always come and have a look when we're working.
I decided to try letting some of my guinea fowl free range today. Caught four from a pen of twenty- felt like a couple of rounds with Mike Tyson would feel I reckon- plus dust! One disappeared into the bamboo, two under a blackberry bush and the fourth was last seen twenty feet above the ground heading west over the neighbours place. So hopefully I'll have wild guinea fowl photos to add to the mix if we every see them againJayInOz

Ive been checking on a Red-tailed Hawk nest over the past couple months. The two fledglings flew the nest yesterday or early today. I can hear them out in the woods not far from the nest but when I go to look for them they go quiet and I haven't found them yet. The parents are still around.
Heres one I saw while looking at the nest today wouldnt want to be on the receiving end of those talons*:

Heres a couple lousy cropped shots of the nestlings from May 25, and June 2, respectively.

In the latter shot one of them had a wing and one leg flailing around the outside of the nest while one of the adults was feeding them (orange-ish color to the right). I thought it was going to fall out. That would have been interesting.
*I caught an injured Great Horned Owl once. When I managed to get a towel thrown over it and went to pick it up one of its feet clamped down on a finger, thankfully gloved. Impressively powerful grip.

The sun rose over Mt. Otis this morning. It is the second highest point on Cape Cod.
