I ain't no fool! But yes, normally I take the lead mainly for the rattlesnakes. Hiking poles are your friend.

It was a box when I bought it in 1995. The first thing I did was have a friend bring in a big, pink, granite boulder - the native stone underneath the house both in its foundation and under its lawn.

Then I went to the spring wholesale plant place and bought a rose rhodi and two rose azaleas. The rhodi was supposed to stop at 10'. The azaleas were to grow to 4' and 6'. I planted them next to that big shingle covered wall.

A couple years later, walking on a beach, I found a long strip of fishing net - the big orange plastic kind. It was about 3' wide and 20 odd feet long. I cut it in half and hung the pieces from the porch roof.

I’m finishing another fellow’s build. Picked up the hull off Craigslist in April. Long story. That’s Honduran Mahogany lumber and plywood pretty much everywhere, other than the white oak. She’ll shine up real nice once I’m done.

thats the ribbon stripe plywood i wanted and could not find circa 2006 for my bt cabin sides. ended up with some selected sapele which turned out fine and maybe better for being less dramatic. at least that's what i tell myself.

that ply must be unobtanium now.

how big would you say those herons are....

our herons (or something) are dropping half eaten bullfrogs (probably not herons, they would eat them whole, right?) in random places around the property. i wouldn't mind except that fergus likes to chew on them, and then he breathes dead frog breath on me while i'm trying to sleep.

    LOA or displacement?
They seem large birds at a distance, really big wing area , but up close they look more like a stretched chicken plus legs and beak. Not very big at all. That 24 inch height stuff is all legs I reckon.

    The adult typically weighs 550 g (1.21 lb)[10] and ranges from 60 to 70 cm (24–28 in) in height.[1

I have a receipt from the original builder's records that shows my Bartender's plywood was purchased in March 2003. Builder bought 12 sheets of Honduran Mahogany plywood, ribbon grain, various thicknesses, which was shipped from Boulter Plywood Corp. in Massachusetts and delivered to Southern California for the grand sum of $1,068. Amazing by today's prices, especially considering the cost included shipping 480 lbs of plywood coast to coast.

My takeaway? Now is nearly always the time to buy boat materials. They'll never go down in price, only up.

Care package from Leipzig - christmas ornament, lapel pin, nice canvas bag.

Bach designed his insignia when he went applying for jobs with royalty. Incorporated into it are his initials - J, S and B - and interwoven with them are the same three letters backwards. Can you see them?

The other evening, I handpainted booth signs for the annual Old Dog Haven fundraising festival. If they’d just cut a bit off the left side of the sign then it’d be perfectly centered.
