Last one of Old Faithful. I don't know the guy - a 'rando' as the kids say - but he was posing for photos.

He's wearing the same shirt as The Boy Who Broke Through to the Earth's Mantle.

Saw this arch cloud driving to Anchorage a couple of days ago. Thought it unusual.

Did some volunteer work today finishing up a fencing project at a U.S. Forest Service facility. There were five of us oldfarts from our local backcountry horseman group doing the work. The fenced area is about a two acre enclosure for containing pack and riding stock.

Old hay barn within the enclosure:

There is a cabin on site that was built in 1914. It was originally a guard station used by Forest Service fire watchers, but now, like many of its kind, it is available to the public on a reservation/rental system. We’ve only rented this one once before in the winter and had a great time x-country skiing there with a cozy base camp to come back to.

This was the only volunteer project that I was able to help out on this year, but small as it was, it feels good to ‘give something back’.

This was long after sunset and very dark and shot from window of running truck. Rather surprised to be able to pull this out.

With an orange filter I think that your background would look more like this:

I used a red filter for that shot. I need to pick up an orange filter one of these days.

Oh, wow. Huh. That is beyond orange. With a red filter I'd expect the sky to be dark.

A few days ago, at an overlook over the Yellowstone river I removed the orange filter of my wide angle lens, because it was on my digital camera, fumbled the filter, and it dropped to the ground, and rolled off the edge of a cliff. Seriously, it bounded down probably hundreds of vertical feet. I had just bought it this summer, roughly 100 bucks flew over the edge.

It was a little smoky that day. Sun was pretty high. It was around 2 pm or so. I was wearing a red tshirt.

Lame. I fumbled my orange filter in Chicago this spring. It hit the sidewalk and shattered.

Look at how wavy that hull/topsides has become. That ferry has seen some action.
