I'll wish any of the many ethnic groups who live here in NZ all the very best for their particular celebration, and have no issue at all wishing those who observe Christmas, all the very best for that days celebrations.

    Have a good one people.

    Ditto.

It is the the holiday season so I will unashamedly wish people "Season's Greetings" and "Happy Holidays."

And while we're at it, why don't we celebrate the New Year on the winter solstice?

There was no 'surlyness' in my post.

It was posted in the spirit of goodwill to endeavour avoid upsetting anyone, your good self included, and to be all inclusive.

By the way, and in true christian spirit, I forgive you your antagonistic rant.

And the birth of Jesus on the same day, from which we supposedly started counting our years?

Your option, which i have read. I amazed on your insight, and wonder what facts you have based that incredulous assertion ?

Do you have to resort to euphemisms for swear words ? That sounds like somebody who is 'effing' (is that the appropriate word?) around and not saying exactly what they want to say.

BTW You are the one that introduced the word 'surly', as in my being "surly free to exclaim it", not me. All I replied in response to your accusation was "There was no 'surlyness' in my post."

I read this in the morning but was too busy all day to reply until now.
In rebuttal to your statement concerning Mary being "raped" by the Holy Spirit, let me refer you to Luke 1:38
"Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word". This was in response to the message from the angel that she would conceive. Sounds like consent to me.
    Peace to you and yours.

How many slaves were forced to say that just before being raped by their "lord"... those Roman elites were good at coming up with a religion to keep the slaves and plebs in line.

The thread title conveys no such spirit. Grow up rummy, there’s nothing generous or giving about dropping troll bait.
