    18.08 BST yesterday. We had gone for a day sail and had had the experience, which I always enjoy, of sailing home up the estuary as the fresh breeze that we had enjoyed during the day faded slowly away. Since the tide was ebbing, the challenge was to get home, in daylight, without using the engine. By this point we were making 1.2 knots over 1.6 knots of tide. We made it. The night before we had got home in the dark, which is OK but not ideal.

    This was our last sail of the season; she’s coming out on Wednesday, and since she has two years of growth on her, thanks to Covid, she absolutely needs it!

    A tip of the hat to her designer, Ray Wall, for a boat which still behaved like a perfect lady despite a thick growth of marine life!

    Nice. I like the challenge of sailing to or from the mooring when conditions permit.
