    Default Catboat, $5000. CT Facebook

    No connection.

    Inboard engine, Trailer.

    The seller included no description.

EDIT:Mea culpa. Not a catboat, as Dave ( WoxBox) pointed out below. I saw the image with the strong sheer, low house and clicked without looking more closely. I would amend the thread title if I knew how.

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

Not a catboat, the mast is stepped on the cabintop. But looks like a nice design. The beam seems typical for the length, too. Not catboat beamy.cGaffer sloop I suspect. Anyone recognize it?

On second though probably not, there's no specs in the ad. The hull shape and deck looked a lot like the titmouse I had.

Breakaway--I just posted this on a separate thread wondering if anybody knew what it was. The company (Golden Era) is mostly known for a Herreshoff Petrel in glass, but this I can't find anything at all on this one (a Delware Gillnet Skiff or something, according to a different ad for the same boat).
Anyway, I like it but it would be nice to know a little more about it

I did not realize you had already posted about this same boat, Earling. Would you like me to close this thread?

No, not at all! I was just saying that I'd seen it, too (and posted something). Carry on! I'm really just interested in anybody knows anything about it. I can take mine down, come to think of it. No use having two of these thread. Cheers.

6733310_20180603114302256_1_XLARGE.jpgActually the boat is what it states it is in the add. Delaware Gill Net Skiff. Robert Chappelle was known for drawing up various skiff designs that didn't look much like skiffs. But this is a classic fishing design of the Chesapeake in its day. Rob Champlain Custom built this for an elder gentleman. And it looks most like his Petrel designs which are a Herreshoff fish class boat. From the Herreshoff Petrel design ... on this he gave a 4" rise in the shear and re-engineered the hull. It has a 600 lb cast bronze retractable centerboard; when up the boat has a 1.5 ft draw. When down around 5 ft draw. Like the Gill Nets the mast was used as the net hoist therefor its short and stubby. Not traditional is he fitted this with a sliding Gunter Rig. This was also fitten out with a diesel Westerbeke 10 two with only 58 hrs on it. Has the original 1986 sails which look and feel new. I imagine the funny white spot is a repair due to the deck anchor not being secured. First 2 pics are this boat being launched next 2 are Golden Era Petrel (Fish Class) ... that little 5k cat is more like a 20k fish!
