Default Port Townsend wooden boat festival lament - photos

The Port Townsend wooden boat festival was cancelled for the second year. Damn you Covid.

We visited anyway, on a rainy Saturday.

Photos following of the few boats that were in the inner harbor.

    Hello td,

Some peaceful photos of some lovely details.

Wood, metal, fabric and rope working together to be a boat.

    Thank You.

Boy Howdy. Two years now, we've been unable to hold the show. Color me grumpy. Great images, but I'm even more grumpy <sigh>

There always seems to be something of interest going on in PT. The NWMC has closed their shop to the public, a real (if understandable) shame. I always liked walking through there, watching whatever project was working it's way through. One standout was a Spitzgatter that ended up with just about everything between the original cabintop and keel replaced. I think it came in for a bit of a soft spot on the stem.

    Thanks for the pictures TD

We went to PT for the weekend even though the fest had been canceled. We had reservations at a local BB that could no be fully refunded. I wish I had taken a more pics. I did get a few of the Hawaiian Chieftain looking rather rusty.

The condition of the Chieftain is heart breaking. We saw her the day she came back to PT on my recent trip to the area. Some of our party remember her from early days and they couldn't believe how far she's fallen. But there is hope for her future so we'll see how it goes.

I understand a consortium in Hawaii has purchased her and wants to return her to her original home. G'Luck Chieftain!

Thanks for the photos, all! I wouldn't have been able to attend (COVID!) even if they'd held the festival, but I have a brother who is moving to the area some time in the coming year, so I have some hope of being able to get there if and when the horrors of this pandemic recede sufficiently.
