Default An Ilur Build in Portland OR

    Hello Folks,

I figured I would share some photos of an Ilur I had commissioned by Wind and Oar Boat School in Portland OR. They have a great mission and do good work. We are hoping to have it ready for pickup by mid September. This one will be a balanced lug sail made by Gambell and Hunter. Thanks to all the Ilur owners that have assisted me with questions along the way. 20210726_144053.jpg20210726_144039.jpg20210522_161719.jpg20210602_093614.jpg20210618_125757 (1).jpg

Well we will start out in the reservoirs of North Texas, we have several large lakes in the area. I have never sailed a day in my life but grew up on lakes in fishing skiffs. I have been dreaming of sailing this exact boat since 2011 and have been saving for this moment since 2015. Needless to say I am beyond excited. My goal is to tackle my own version of the Texas 200 after 18 months of lake sailing. The actual Texas 200 is in mid Texas summer and its just inhumane to be outside from June 1 through Sep 15 most years. Fall, Winter and early Spring is our real outdoor season in these parts.

    Hopkins,

When do you expect to receive the boat?
I live in Ft. Worth and would very much like to see it.
Not an expert on this type of boat, but interested.

    Good luck.

The Ilur is a very impressive little ship. I hope you get more opportunities to sail soon.

I am really excited. I had my first 10 hours of sailing in Portland on the boat. It was everything i was hoping it would be. I will be out on the lakes most weekends from now till the end of May then it gets to hot to be outside most days.
