    Default RIP Bruce Kirby

One of the greats of the old school. Met him at his home in 1986 and discussed his thinking in designing a favorite boat, the Laser. Simplicity was the key to give maximum fun for the skilled sailor on the water. We were aboard one of his latest, a Norwalk Island Sharpie and I bought plans. A great fleet of boats built all over the earth. No BS from Bruce, just a great guy.

Not to rain on your parade, but there is already a thread about Bruce's passing in the Bilge: http://forum.woodenboat.com/showthre...Across-the-Bar
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Not to worry. My umbrella is good for this sort of thing. I did look about and did not see the other thread. Bruce deserves two threads anyway for his contributions to sailing, especially his thoughts that were not infected with formal NA education. See what I did there?

I had seen that he had died but I don't look in the Bilge, so thanks.
