I'll start this off. The rule is that the first person to correctly answer the question must be the next to post a question. And so on.
Q: What Motown star tried out for the Detroit Lions NFL team as a wide receiver in 1970?

"At one time, science said man came from apes, did it not? If that is true, why are there still apes? Think about it." — Herschel Walker, Republican U.S. Senate candidate, Georgia
Hmmmm ….. I was gonna go with Otis Redding, but now I don’t think he was Motown
“Don’t worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon!”
.
Not Otis Redding.

I'll give one hint: this Motown artist tried out for the Detroit Lions NFL team in the midst of his recording career. He was already a huge Motown star.

And who shot and killed him?
.
Bingo!
You are both correct but Canoeyawl must post the next trivia question.
We are talking about Marvin Gaye, folks.

Just today a woman posted on Facebook that she once broke up with a guy when he said he’d never heard of Marvin Gaye.
“Don’t worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon!”
My turn. A famous American sports figure who, when asked about his experience on D-Day replied, “It was loud!”
“Don’t worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon!”
.
My Dad was not a famous sports figure but he would have agreed. Dad was on Omaha beach triaging wounded and told me his main memory of the day was an explosion on the beach about every three or four seconds.

I have Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" on the thumb drive in my car. The sad thing is that it's just as relevant today as it was back then.
"Where you live in the world should not determine whether you live in the world." - Bono
"Live in such a way that you would not be ashamed to sell your parrot to the town gossip." - Will Rogers
"Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others." - Groucho Marx
I know I am late, but my guess would have been Stevie Wonder. Knowing how bad the Lions were back then (one of their players (a receiver) died on the field in a game against Chicago) he might have had a chance.
I bet Otis Redding would have loved to be around for the opportunity......
come on, lets have some more! your question twodot ?
