I almost stepped on one this morning.

Ten-lined June Beetle (male), about an inch long.

Every once in a while we'd find a bug walking across our work floor. They picked themselves a direction and walked it in a straight line. Don't think they had any idea how long a walk it would be to the wall at the other end.

Snapped on Thursday at the same job site as the first one. No tape handy this time, work phone for scale, when measured, ~3-1/2" from tip to tip.

When I saw this pic I had to check the date of the thread to make sure it wasn’t bumped up from 2003. How old is that phone, anyway?

We've, the company I work for, has been using them for about 8 years now. Maybe a bit longer. They are indestructible, I can literally stand on one and not hurt it. The one in the picture ping-ponged down through 5 stories of scaffolding just a month ago. No problems.

The boss likes them because they have a push-to-talk feature so when he wants to reach one of us it's like using a 2way radio instead of a phone call. His handset does double duty when he goes racing as you can hook up a throat mic to these.

For the record, this in my phone. A ruggedized smartphone by Blackview.
