First tenor Jimmy Hamilton (I think)

My wife spotted a woman wearing a T shirt with a rather haunting picture of a sad young man holding a trumpet.
Out of the blue I said, that’s Chet Baker. She’d never heard of him. So this morning I played Baker’s “My Funny Valentine”. My wife is now a fangrrl (opposite of fanboi).

I knew Obama was Cool Hand Luke when he told a reporter that "Miles" was on his iPod.

Given how many on this forum don’t seem to like Bob Dylan, I suppose we are going to have Harry Connick Jr. haters as well. I like him.

We saw Chet Baker at Bourbon St in Toronto. He was pretty sad. Had to sit when he played and sang.

Jazz has a wide definition, but as the OP started with a big band selection, I guess this qualifies.

Keep it up people. Dave Brubeck was another favourite (I’ve got to get the correct spelling here)
    Here’s an early one. M
