Well done to the Dutchman. He did well on a course with hills. Hamilton...fastest lap, in his hometown.

I saw the race, what a tremendous street course. LONG. FAST. Long straights braking from top speed to tight 90s, just like LeMans. Great chicanes. Pretty architecture. But couple all that speed/braking/acceleration energy with hot ambient temperatures and you have... tire issues. But a fantastic venue.

I imagined Verstappen walking up to Hamilton before the latter even got out of the car, sitting there dejected, and Verstappen saying, "Can I buy you a beer?" and Hamilton answering, "Can I buy YOU a beer?" In reality, I think I saw Hamilton still in helmet, trudging past behind Perez during the latter's interview. Trudging.

with one tire manufacturer and no tire competition in f1, heat related tire failure should be almost inexcusable, especially on the race leading/championship leading driver's car

As miserable as they were, and with good cause, the other podium finishers seemed absolutely ecstatic and the interview with Sebastian Vettel showed a man who seemed a decade or so younger than his 2020 self. There have been murmurings elsewhere about the possibility of two US Grand Prix this year https://joesaward.wordpress.com/ .Should such a situation come to pass I would really like to see them race on the Cleveland airport track that featured in CART's golden era.Hardly likely though.

Laguna Seca would be great,as would Elkhart Lake or Watkins Glen.Sadly it seems Miami is more likely.I wonder how the current monster cars will cope with a grid type street layout.

Clearly, not enough testing by Pirelli.

Its been years since I found F1 interesting but at last there seems to be a fair match in cars and a fair match in drivers. May the best man win, not the best car.

Hours and hours and hours of practice.A focus on choreography-yes really! Careful analysis of what the hardware needs to do and designing equipment to make it fractionally more efficient than the previous versions.
