Such an offer is primarily of interest to those who find themselves up the creek without a paddle.

    Bump!
There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

I saw that. I don't think I ever subscribed but tried to sign in anyway just for giggles. It turns out I have an account for some reason so I suppose I automatically qualify?

My guess is that the Brunswick Corporation may claim that title with an 1845 start date as described at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brunswick_Corporation although they don't appear to have entered the marine business until 1961. The information at https://www.perko.com/perko_story/ indicates that Perko started in the early 1900s. See https://www.wcha.org/forums/index.php?threads/16294/ for more details about the various founding dates of the organizations the preceded Shaw & Tenney, along with a variety of other old canoe and boat builders. Questions like this seem simple but quickly get complicated,

East Boothbay is the original site although they build uber modern limousine tenders for superyachts in Damariscotta now.

Has the oar giveaway sweepstakes concluded yet? Who won?

The information at https://research.mysticseaport.org/coll/coll231/ indicates that Wilcox-Crittenden was sold to Gulf + Western in 1971. The page at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_a...ern_Industries indicates that Gulf + Western became defunct in 1989. Therefore, it appears that the answer to your question is no.

Not this week after all. So... maybe the 2nd week of October for the announcement of a winner of a pair of oars.
