    Default CPAC's golden calf

Yes, an actual golden statue of Trump being wheeled into CPAC.

The proportions remind me of this:

Didn't any of these religious conservatives ever read the story of the golden calf, in the bible?
"Reason and facts are sacrificed to opinion and myth. Demonstrable falsehoods are circulated and recycled as fact. Narrow minded opinion refuses to be subjected to thought and analysis. Too many now subject events to a prefabricated set of interpretations, usually provided by a biased media source. The myth is more comfortable than the often difficult search for truth."

Pshaw! Actual adherence to the bible for the CPAC faithful is considered the purview of the suckers and the rubes, but certainly not for their membership.

Bible teachings only count to Republicans if they support Republican ambitions. Of course, the same teaching may support something other than Republican ambitions at different times and under different circumstances. In those cases, the teachings can be ignored until the subject changes to something that fits the ambition. Then the teachings can be trotted out again.

I swear my brain shut down for a moment when I saw that golden statue. They are really embracing the man who almost brought their party to ruin? With him in the Oval Office Democrats kept Congress, took the White House, and took the Senate thanks to VP Harris. Do they really think that in 4 years the world will look more kindly on his golden visage?

Hell yeah. He’s their golden goose that lays brown eggs. In twenty years he will be spoken of as reverently as Reagan was by the rank and file. History is written by victors and those with blinders.

I was just about certain the photo was from The Onion or something similar. It's not. Parody is impossible.

Are we sure it's a statue of Trump? It appears to be in much better health and is better dressed than he usually is.

Are those shorts he's wearing? Look more like boxers to me.
I can see Trump wandering aimlessly around his Mara-logo palace in his underwear all day.

Republicans are beyond shame for continuing to kiss that man's butt.

I keep finding opportunity to quote Molly Ivins about those who practice 'religion' in some form... and those who just practice 'religiosity'. The latter is far easier, more convenient, and much more situationally useful.

I've liked, for example, Jeff Coons for his horrendous kitsch-arty shyte poking a big fat finger into the world of modern art.

But this is beyond any meaning of pastiche.

Ah - they are metaphorical. Remember how he used to be pro-choice? And a Democrat?
