Default Sealing up holes in plywood

On the barn door type shutters I'm making, I'd like to seal up the holes where the mounting hardware penetrates the plywood.

I'll confess to not paying attention to how to do this with boat deck hardware.

On one end, I could over drill the holes, fill with epoxy, and redrill. Short of that, what methods or bedding compounds will give good long term performance?

Something like a good 4200 gasket, then tighten?

    Thanks
